Welcome to the Blackford Fiddle Group web site

BFG  is very largely a self-funding group working to support traditional music in the community.  This web site was created for our members but there is much that may be of interest to others.

BFG has a ceilidh band and performs for many different functions.

We support complete beginners and others -  on fiddles and other instruments.

Please use the web site to find out more about us, how to join and on playing traditional music.

Support from others

Recently we have received three grants to enable us to expand our work.  In early 2007 BFG was awarded a grant  from the National Lottery, through Awards for All Scotland. The money was used on a number of projects through the year and into 2008, including the preparation of a ceilidh guide and tune book, a tune writing workshop (with follow up help and production of a book), recording of a demo CD and ceilidh workshops.   We are grateful to the lottery for their support for these projects.    In 2009 BFG articipated in the Stirling Area Community Music Project funded by Scottsish Arts Council.  For details visit www.communitymusic.org.uk.  Also in 2009 BFG was awarded a small grant to run workshops and to hire professional tutors.  The money was awarded by Ochil Developments Blackford Community Fund administered by the Scottish Community Foundation. The same good folk have recently awarded us another grant for 2010-11 for more workshops.
