BFG LINKS - bits of our web
site that are harder to find.
Past
Gigs. For a list of many of our past gigs.
New Year
Honours 2005. Just a bit
of fun!
New Year Honours 2006.
Serious Stuff.
Photos.
A selection of BFG pictures.
BFG
Jokes Page. Where we recycle old jokes but with
a new slant and where we even have some new ones.
Provence. Report on the
2006 French tour.
Child Protection Policy.
The BFG policy as submitteed to the Central Registered Body in Scotland
Music
Page. A source of tunes as music scores, midi, abc and
mus files.
Members' Page. You will
need a password and user name.
These are some other pages on
the web that we think you might
find useful.
ABC Music
notation. This takes to a page that explains abc and helps
you to find software. ABC is a way of writing music down and
playing it
back on a PC. You can find music in abc format all over the web.
Using the link below to JC's Tune Finder you will be able to track down
thousands of abc tunes.
The
Amazing
Slowdowner. A great bit of cheap
software which plays your CDs slowly so that you can learn the tunes.
Melody
Assistant. A music writing and printing package that
several of the
BFG members use. If you have this we can send you tunes in various
formats. It will also play Midi files.
Fiddler's Companion.
Everything you could want to know about every tune you can think of.
Trad
Music CDs and info. Buy CDs of traditional music at good
prices. Also concert
and band info.
Pete
Cope's original BFG website. (Beware some gig and session
info is out of date.)
JC's
Tune Finder An
amazing site for tracking down tunes on the web by
title, etc.
Tunes are in ABC format which can be read by many bits of music
software including Melody Assistant. The tunefinder will discover
good and bad, complete and incomplete versions of tunes so it is best
to download a few to make sure you get what you want.
Local
Music web site. Nigel Gatherer's (Crieff) site with music, info on
playing and opinions. Very out of date and other than being local
to BFG is of diminishing interest. Time for an upgrade we think.
Murray Strings. A
local string instrument repairer. No web site anymore. Ring
Tom Murray, Aberdalgie (Perth number)
Virtual
Session. A bit of fun from the BBC - a "live" session to play along
with at
home. Sad but good practice too.
Tony Dixon. People often
ask where to buy good inexpensive penny whistles. Look no further,
but buy a tuneable one.
Sessions A not very good or up
to date list. We have other sessions listed on our sessions page. If
anyone knows of good session indexes on the web please let us know.
If you know of any other sites of interest please email info@blackfordfiddlers.org.uk
with the details. thanks. |
